Make America Fluent Again . . .

I’ll be moving “Mulligan Stew” in a different, language-related direction. Of course, I’ll still be civically and sociopolitically absorbed, but I’ll do so through the copy in the language exercises I’ll present.

Something to note is that if after reading an exercise you want the answer key, it’ll cost $2, via PayPal, CashApp, or BTC. Otherwise, it won’t be fair to my few kind subscribers.

I’m aiming to get the introductory article written over the weekend. I’ve had several editorial deadlines in a row, my 13-year-old dog is sick and probably going to die in the coming few months, my car is crying out for help that I can’t afford, and so on.

It’s hard to concentrate, but if I finish up my pathetic “shit-paying” work by Friday night, then Monday for a new post seems doable.

I’ve been collecting real-world samples of subliteracy, and I’m hoping you’ll find them interesting.

As a related side note, I just finished watching season 1 of The Great Australian Spelling Bee, and kids as young as 8 put many other English-speaking populations to shame.

I actually cried more than once during the season. I love kids who love words and spelling. They’re so earnest, smart, and disciplined! Too bad I had to hock my charm bracelet from childhood. It had a spelling-bee championship charm on it. Ah, well, such is life.

Anyhow, the series was filmed in 2014, so the woke-a-dopes(tm) were nonexistent—at least on this particular show (and another from Oz, c. 2014, called Puberty Blues, which is very politically incorrect, and features enjoyably verboten words, insults, and stereotypes).
